Classes & Community Learning

We host three annual evening Job Readiness/Financial Education classes in North Baton Rouge, meeting twice a week for seven weeks, plus daytime classes in partnership with local organizations. These programs combine education, mentorship, and practical skill-building to help participants achieve personal and professional growth.

At the Christian Outreach Center, we believe in serving today while preparing for tomorrow, offering support that transforms lives, strengthens families, and builds stronger communities.

Job Readiness Training

Participants receive hands-on guidance to prepare for today’s job market. This includes building a strong résumé, completing job applications, developing interview skills, and learning workplace expectations. We also focus on essential soft skills—such as communication, reliability, and professionalism—that contribute to long-term success. The curriculum is both practical and Bible-based. Our goal is not just to help individuals find a job, but to help them keep one and grow in it.

Financial Education

Alongside employment preparation, we provide foundational financial training to help participants manage their resources wisely. Topics include budgeting, saving, reducing debt, and making informed financial decisions. This curriculum is both practical and Bible-based, helping participants develop habits that reflect faithful stewardship and wise decision-making in everyday life.

Program Details & Support

This seven-week class meets twice a week and is designed to be accessible and supportive from start to finish. A meal is provided at each session, and transportation is available for those who need assistance getting to and from class.

Each participant is paired with a dedicated case manager who provides individualized support during the program and for up to three months after graduation, helping students apply what they’ve learned and navigate next steps. In addition, students may qualify for up to $600 in utility assistance as they work toward greater financial stability.
