Give Meaning to Your Spring Cleaning!

Give Meaning to Your Spring Cleaning!
posted on February 20th, 2018 | in Good Cause

Spring is in the air, which means it’s time to roll up your sleeves and bring fresh life to your home through spring cleaning! As you declutter your living space, we want to give you an opportunity to serve your community by supporting The Christian Outreach Center of Baton Rouge by donating to The Purple Cow.

Give meaning to your spring cleaning by dropping off your unused items at either location of The Purple Cow. By donating, you’re offering a second chance to struggling families in the Baton Rouge community!

30 Day Minimalism Challenge: March 1-30

As a part of this initiative, we’re going to challenge our followers to declutter and embrace a more simple, carefree lifestyle by hosting a 30 Day Minimalism Challenge.

Every day in the month of March, you’ll see a post from us challenging you to sort through different areas of your home to declutter and throw items away or donate to The Purple Cow.

We’ll challenge you to sort through areas like your closet, your kitchen cabinets, and that infamous junk drawer to rid your living spaces of anything that you don’t love or use on a regular basis. By doing so, we’re promoting a more minimalistic lifestyle while also bettering the homeless community. It’s a win for YOU and for our city!

What is Minimalism?

On Becoming Minimalist, when asked about what minimalism is, Joshua Becker says, “I am intentionally trying to live with only the things I really need.” Minimalism is marked by clarity, purpose, and intentionality.

“At its core, minimalism is the intentional promotion of the things we most value and the removal of everything that distracts us from it. It is a life that forces intentionality. And as a result, it forces improvements in almost all aspects of your life.”

On this blog, Joshua Becker unpacks his definition of minimalism a little more and we encourage you to read it here.

Over the next month, we intend to introduce you to minimalist blogs and resources to learn more about how to live with intentionality and purpose. Make sure you’re following us on social media to get access to these resources and authors, which leads us to our next point…

Your Donations Make a Double Impact

By participating in the challenge, not only will your home be more fresh than ever, but you will be offering a family a second chance by giving your things a second chance.

All donations given to The Purple Cow make a direct impact in the lives of the homeless community in Downtown Baton Rouge by providing funding for ongoing programs to transition people out of homelessness toward self-sufficiency.

Our partner The Christian Outreach Center provides immediate assistance to the homeless living in Baton Rouge, as well as ongoing support and mentoring through Life Coaching and Life Transformation programs.

For this specific campaign, for every donation that is made to us in the month of March, we’re going to provide a bus pass to a homeless person in the community!
